I had lunch at the Jerusalem Cafe today, located in downtown Vancouver. Note to those in Portland: they're opening one up in Portland on SE Belmont soon. I had the lamb shawarma, and it was fantastic. Usually with the meal selection, they give you some potato salad of some type as well as some pita bread and hummus. I explained to them that I don't eat grains or legumes, and avoid white potatoes. Most of the time I explain that to a restauranteer that I'm trying to give money to and I get some sort of push back or throw away line detailing uninteresting options. These guys were fantastic, hooking me up with a couple different kinds of cabbage and an extra helping of their olive oil drenched dressing. As an extra plus, I mentioned that I loved baba ghanooj, promising to get it next time I came in. They gave me a little plate of the garlicy, eggplanty goodness to munch on while I waited for my take out bag to be filled. I'm not usually into restaurant reviews. but these guys deserved a few minutes of typing and sharing. http://thejerusalemcafe.com/
